Congratulations to the participants in the first StAnD Asteroid Campaign of 2025-26! Our StAnD teams notched up 14 preliminary detections, a new record for us! Of these, seven were made by the Emine Emir Sahbaz Science and Art Center in Turkey, five by the Collège Marcel Massot, France, one by the Escola Secundária Antero de Quental, Portugal, and one by the Farhang Student Research Center in Iran.

“It’s great, we work just like astronomers!” say students at the Collège Marcel Massot during their StAnD Asteroid Campaign

Antoine Poletti and his dedicated team of Student Planetary Defenders at the Collège Marcel Massot in la Motte du Caïre, France have been taking part in StAnD Asteroid Campaigns since December 2024. Their perseverance is now paying off.

Antoine says “It was tricky at the beginning with the software [Astrometrica], but otherwise it’s top!” His students report “It’s cool being able to follow asteroids!” and “It’s great, we work just like astronomers!”
