The StAnD project is led by the team from Italy’s National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF), and they also lead the way in spreading the word about this initiative.

On 24 July they held the first Multiplier Event to show the project to the public.

Nearly 100 people took part, spending a pleasant summer evening that opened with an entertaining and educational conference show by Daniele Gardiol, StAnD Project Coordinator, and hearing about the goals and content of the project from Chiara Lamberti, StAnD Communication Manager. Dario Barghini, StAnD Project Manager, presented the meteor detection camera, which was specially designed by INAF for the project toolkit, and which is gifted to three schools in each participating country. The participants were able to examine the camera in detail before being invited to observe the night sky with portable telescopes from INAF – Turin Astrophysical Observatory.

The evening was enjoyed by all, as can be seen by the photos, and was organised in collaboration with Centroscienza ONLUS and Casa nel Parco.
