The StAnD project was presented during a big event organized in Ellinogermaniki Agogi, Greece, for the European Researchers Night 2024 at the end of September.
Participants both young and old got the chance to discuss the importance of planetary defense and the study of small bodies in our Solar System—and they also launched asteroids that impacted Earth using an online app and were able to see the catastrophic results those impacts can have. They learned how we can study micrometeorites through a microscope, track asteroids using robotic telescopes and use wide field view cameras to spot meteors.
The feedback from the participants was great and they were excited by the role that students can have in science through the StAnD project!
The StAnD project was also featured at the European Researchers Night in Marina de Oeiras, Portugal. The project display at NUCLIO’s stand attracted attention from a diverse audience, including children, parents, teachers, and science enthusiasts who visited the event.
Attendees were eager to learn about planetary defence and how they could actively contribute to scientific efforts through the StAnD project.
