The first STAND Community Day in Greece was a great success this May. More than 150 students and teachers from Thebes had the opportunity to learn about asteroids, meteors, and meteorites. We discussed methods for detecting them, examined real meteorites under a microscope, learned how craters are formed, and discussed planetary defense.

The event was organized by Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) in collaboration with the Thebes Laboratory Center, which hosts a meteor detection camera on its premises. The event took place as part of the Thebes Laboratory Center’s Erasmus+ Day.

EA would like to acknowledge the Thebes Vocational Training Center and its faculty association for their help, with special thanks to Director Mr. Haremis and educator Ms. Mersini Dalaka for the warm welcome and excellent organization.
