Congratulations to the participants in the first StAnD Asteroid Campaign of 2025-26! Our StAnD teams notched up 14 preliminary detections, a new record for us!

Curious students turned into space detectives during the workshop “Introduction to Micrometeorites,” organised by the Department for Gifted Education at the State School Office for the Bergstraße and Odenwald regions in Germany.

On Friday, 27 September, we joined the European Researchers’ Night — a fantastic initiative that brings science closer to people. StAnD was proud to be part of it!

We now have participants from as far away as Uzbekistan, and this week we heard from a teacher in Eskişehir, Turkey who wanted to share their experience!

Four preliminary discoveries means that these students may have made the first observation of potentially new asteroids!

On the night of 17 September, the StAnD all-sky camera toolkit installed at a school in Nice, in the south of France, detected a fireball!

Münsterschwarzach in cooperation with the monastery observatory of the Abbey of Münsterschwarzach captured this image of the Perseids meteor shower on the night of August 10th to 11th.

This year the StAnD Summer School in Marathon, Greece, welcomed a lively group of 14 teachers from five countries. Maths, physics and chemistry teachers worked alongside music and IT teachers during the week: remember that StAnD welcomes teachers of all subjects who are passionate about the night sky!
